what makes a track afro house?
percussion comes first: congas, bongo-style hand drums, shakers and toms layered into one groove. the bass stays deep and round, and vocals are often chanted or sung, sometimes in african languages.
what bpm is afro house?
usually around 118-125 bpm, often a little slower than tech house. the relaxed tempo leaves room for the percussion to breathe and the groove to roll.
can i play these afro house tracks in my sets?
usually, yes. that's what a free download is for. the artist still keeps the rights, so don't re-upload, sell or claim the track, and credit them when you share a mix.
