with one tap, the fan approves once on soundcloud and beltergate runs the actions through their own account. we never see their password. by hand, they do the steps on soundcloud and paste their profile link, and beltergate checks it. if soundcloud can't be reached for a moment, the fan still gets the file.

how the chart works

no paid placement, no hidden score. just downloads.

downloads, once per fan

tracks rank by free downloads in the period. a fan downloading twice still counts once, so it can't be farmed.

movement

the arrows compare with the period before: this week against last week, this month against last month. first-timers get a new tag.

three windows, every hour

this week, this month and all time, per genre too. rebuilt every hour from public gates only. unlisted gates never chart.

questions

how does beltergate check that a fan really followed?
with one tap, the fan approves once on soundcloud and beltergate runs the follow, repost and like through their own account. by hand, the fan does the steps on soundcloud, pastes their profile link, and beltergate checks those actions on soundcloud before the file unlocks.
what if soundcloud is down when a fan tries to download?
then the fan still gets the file. if soundcloud can't be reached for a moment, the gate falls back to trusting the fan, so a download never breaks on someone else's outage.
do link steps like instagram get verified?
no, and the gate doesn't pretend they are. instagram, spotify and other link steps are click-through: the fan opens the link, then carries on. only the soundcloud steps are checked.
how does a track get on the chart?
by being downloaded. the chart ranks public gates by downloads this week, this month and all time, counted once per fan. it's rebuilt every hour, and unlisted gates never show up.
what's the difference between free and pro?
free gives you 3 live gates with follow, repost, like, comment and email capture, plus mp3 files. pro is €3/month: unlimited gates, wav, flac and stems, link steps, more follow targets, analytics and no badge.
