house questions

what bpm is house?

usually around 120-128 bpm. it's fast enough to keep a floor moving and relaxed enough to leave space for chords, vocals and a bouncing bassline.

what are the basic parts of a house track?

a four-on-the-floor kick, offbeat open hats, a clap or snare on two and four, and a bassline that locks to the kick. chords, vocals and samples sit on top. leave gaps and the groove does the rest.

can i play these house tracks in my sets?

most likely, yes, since free downloads are made to be played. the artist keeps the rights, so no re-uploading, selling or passing the track off as yours, and give them a credit when you post a mix.
